Thrivent Action Team
In November, we delivered five food baskets. New pillows with handmade cases were delivered to A New Hope Center in Owego and Binghamton YMCA’s men’s Housing. Thank you to all who help and pray for these projects and those who receive them or donate their time to help others. Are you a Thrivent Member? Want to host an Action Team but have questions? See Jill Lukach. Hosting an action team can mean bringing $250 into our community to help others.
New York State Fair Bible Booth
Grace Lutheran returns to the NYS State Fair this year. We will have a booth to give away Bibles and share God's love. We have a sign up sheet in the narthex for all those who can participate.
Bible Studies
Bible studies opportunities are available each Sunday after our 9:30 a.m traditional worship service and each Wednesday via zoom. You are welcome to join and may contact the church office to learn more. ►more info
Vision Committee
The Vision committee met for 3 plus hours on step 8 of 9 for the Vision process on November 17, 2022. That input will go into the December meeting for step 9, whose results go into the January Congregational Meeting for all to participate in. The January meeting will be about SMART goals – things we will actually do to support our mission. Yes, we will still be doing all the things we currently do to support our mission. This will be the selected steps forward, which could be bringing back an old program, enhancing a current program or trying something new. What are they? We don’t know yet but they come from the congregational input from the 2 congregational Vision meetings that have already been held. Questions? See Pastor Jake.
Trunk or Treat Report
Halloween is over and I have an update on our 1st Trunk n Treat at Grace.
We did have 5 cars that participated and we all had a fun time. We had approximately 75 children and families come starting around 4:15 pm. We ended at 6:15 pm. At that point the Baptist Church next door and the Catholic church up the road were just starting. So I felt the time worked out well.
We gave out Halloween pamphlets with our churches address and phone number and an invitation to come if they did not have a current church. We also gave out Jesus Loves You stickers and a coloring sheet of happy faces to color and complete, along with a Prayer.
All in all we felt it reached many families in the community. Never saw so many children walking the streets of Hazel and Main. We would like to continue with this event next year and hopefully more will be able to help by decorating their trunk (but not necessary) and giving out treats.
Thank you to all who helped to make this a successful event.
